Xylem (NYSE: XYL) is a water technology company. It was founded in 2011 as the spinoff from ITT Corporation and headquartered in Rye Brook, NY.

Xylem develops, designs, produces, installs and serves highly engineered water technologies. Xylem sells its products in more than 150 countries. Its equipment spans the entire water cycle from collection, transportation, treatment and recycling.

Business Overview

Xylem has three main operating segments:
  • Water Infrastructure (42% of 2017 Revenues): Xylem provides testing and monitoring systems in the collection of water from various sources.
  • Applied Water (30% of 2017 Revenues): Xylem provides pumps and valves to provide water for heating, cooling, mixing and cleaning.
  • Measurement & Control Solutions (28% of 2017 Revenues): Xylem provides metering and measurement tools in the distribution of water.

Risks

Lower municipal budgets could impact Xylem's revenues. Xylem is also tied to the completion of infrastructure projects.

Xylem has exposure to the oil & gas end market through water spending at the wellhead.
